i got there early, lines were long but the A-B line moved quickly for whatever reason. i got in and out quickly and now im at the library. happy voting!
I early voted on Sat. 10/25 and had a great experience. The location opened at 9, so I arrived at 8:50 expecting a line. The place was deserted! I walked right in, and there were about 10 ppl in front of me. I was through the line and out the door in about 20-25 minutes. However, I will say that the location was really disorganized and poorly run. If there had been a line, then the wait would have stretched on for quite some time.
Ok, I got up at the butt crack of dawn to be the first person at the polling place (or one of the first). Then I went back to sleep for an hour. LOL! I got to my polling location at 7:20, the line was out the door about halfway down the block. It took me about 45 minutes to get in vote, and be out of there. It would have taken longer, but they had a shortage of folks with M-Z last names, so I got to move up. YAY!The thing about election judges is that there is no competency requirement. Oh well. I did not cry in the booth like I thought I was going to. I did, however, holler like a school girl when I left the polling place (at which point tears started to flow). I was holding my ticket that said I voted and then I looked at it again like oh shyt, I just voted. Very surreal. WHEW!!!! Happy tears though folks. No ugly cries. It was all kool-aid and cheesy face smiles and I'm still beaming right now.Me and thummyb are going to the rally later. Look forward to commentary and photos from that!!!
I early voted on Oct. 24 in Lincoln Park at the library. It took all of maybe 20 minutes with the wait. I was surprised at the amount of people who were there (possibly about 15-20) but it went very smoothly. However, if I'd waited to vote today, I probably wouldn't have made it into work today. Same polling location as Obama and if you saw the news, the line was down the block and around the corner. I'm excited! Emotional, anxious...can't wait to toast tonight!
I went to vote @ CVS high school! Nuf said about competency requirements. It was slow but worth it...in retrospect I wish I would have kept my receipt.
My voting experience was very pleasant. I live in a diverse (although I wish there were more ppl who like like me) neighborhood in Brooklyn called Park Slope. Way before I even got close to the polling place (an elementary school) there were blocks and blocks of people waiting in line. This was the first time I didn't mind waiting. It only took me an hour and 20 mins for the whole process. There were even people passing out cupcakes, water, snacks while we waited in line (for a fee of course! LOL ) I'll always remember that day!!!
I voted early and was in and out in 20 minutes flat. Same lack of competency at the library on 63rd just west of Cottage.
